Valley Youth Theatre (VYT) is a professional quality youth theatre for audiences of all ages in Phoenix, Arizona.  We are seeking a seasoned Development, Marketing & Communications Director to join our team in carrying out our mission to inspire young people to be the best that they can be through a wide variety of performing arts opportunities.  We are a family-oriented company looking for a team member who is passionate about the performing arts and working in a creative environment.  

Primary areas of responsibly:

The Director of Development and Marketing is responsible for raising funds to support the mission of VYT, ensuring that all marketing materials meet the mission standards, and serving as the media contact.  The Director will work closely with the Producing Artistic Director and Managing Director to meet departmental goals.  Position will oversee independent contractors (i.e., graphic artists, advertising agencies, etc.) 

This position is responsible for fund raising and oversight of fund-raising events; researching and writing grants; cultivating new donors and nurturing existing donor relationships; overseeing the advertising and promotion of VYT events, productions, educational offerings, and community outreach thus increasing attendance, participation, and awareness of VYT.


Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be flexible and possess excellent communication and creative writing skills, planning, and analytical and organizational skills with knowledge of non-profit performing arts and a strong sense of teamwork.  Expertise in overseeing fund-raising and marketing campaigns is required.  The ideal candidate will also be highly motivated, and results driven and should have the ability to work effectively and successfully managing independent contractors, and with a wide variety of people and personalities as daily contact with various stakeholders is required.  Strong marketing, public relations, brand/product development, media and donor relations, and managerial skills are a must.  A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point is mandatory as well as an understanding of software used to submit grants online.  Proficiency in donor database software, Adobe design programs (Illustrator, In Design and Photo Shop); and website management skills a plus.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Arts Administration, Marketing or related degree and 5 years of experience with nonprofit organizations is preferred.  

Salary range:  $50, 000 - $80, 000 commensurate with experience.
