Field Trips

“...Your program for the Roosevelt School District has had a big impact on influencing the children to read. During the school year, Palmdale's children read for a total of 2,100 hours. This year, already, our students have read over 5,200 hours. Your theatre has played a big part in this increase. Just last week I was in a second grade room and a child pulled out her copy of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. She still treasures the book, the autographs, and the memories. Thanks so much for caring about our children. You are having an impact on their futures.”

"For many of the students this was the first time they had ever been to a live performance. I watched their faces as they watched the production. Several of them were clearly mesmerized. One third grader never did sit back in her seat, she was literally on the edge of the seat the entire time. Children who have had the opportunity to see a live performance are much more likely to attend theater productions when they are adults. They say you can't miss what you've never had and people who have never experienced theater will never realize their loss. The students were fascinated to read the biographies of the actors and to realize that they were all you people also. Several students expressed an interest in performing that they had never before acknowledged. Several others named classmates that they believe have the necessary talent to participate in an organization like Valley Youth Theatre.”
