Literacy and the Arts
Since 1994 Valley Youth Theatre has collaborated with the Roosevelt and Phoenix school districts to provide our Literacy and the Arts (LTA) program. Winner of the 2008 Arizona Governor’s Arts Award in Education, the goal of LTA is to improve the lives of 3600 underserved and at-risk youth annually by enhancing their enthusiasm for reading, addressing their word association and comprehension skills and offering them an opportunity to see a live theatrical production, an experience that might not otherwise be possible without this program. Since its inception, LTA has had a profound impact on the lives of over 60,000 students, and as an organization, we consistently strive to determine ways to improve the program and ensure it is making the strongest possible impact on the lives of the children we serve.
A VERY special thank you to our Literacy and the Arts partners!
Your support makes this incredible program possible for at-risk children in our community!
